They say parenting is the hardest job you’ll ever love. That goes double that when you’re parenting abroad where you have additional cultural, lingual and identity issues to deal with.
Of course, there are a lot of positives: Our children are bilingual. They learn to adapt to a different set of rules and are often more flexible. They are exposed to culture and differences that many never get to experience. And often family bonds are stronger.
Parenting While Abroad is meant to be a clearinghouse where we can share information about how to effectively parent while living oversees. It will provide advice about how to manage difficult issues during all the developmental phases and ways to help our children navigate the different life situations we have put them in. And it’s a place where we can share the joys of parenthood and our successes.
This is a work in progress, please share your thoughts and ideas. If you have a specific question, ask and I’ll find an expert to answer it for you.
We’re in this together, we are an ex-pat village and together we can make a difference.
Thanks for stopping by and I’d love to hear from you.
